💙 BRIEF: $100M Is Coming to Apex… Here’s What’s Next
Published 24 days ago • 4 min read
Happy Friday, Triangle!
This week I got to be at the ribbon-cutting for the new Lichtin Plaza and the upcoming Omni Raleigh Hotel downtown.
Standing there with the Mayor, local leaders, and the team behind it all, the energy was incredible. You could feel how this project will bring even more life, connection, and excitement to our downtown.
It was a good reminder of just how fast Raleigh is growing and how lucky we are to be right in the middle of it.
There is more.
This week is packed with updates: exciting news, plenty of festivals, and a few surprises across the Triangle that might just be perfect for you.
Grab your coffee, get comfortable, and let me walk you through it.
Here’s your D&M BRIEF:
[B]est Weekend Plans: The best events this weekend to fill your days [R]ealty Pulse: A quick answer to "How's the market?" [I]n the News: $100M retail and office village coming to Apex [E]xclusive Listing: 1.24 acres and a home built for your life [F]riday Favorites: Lies every Raleigh local tells themselves
What it means: Inventory has increased, which gives buyers more choices, but prices are still holding near $600K and demand remains steady. Buyers have a little more leverage than before, yet sellers are still keeping that slight edge overall.

Apex Breaks Ground on $100M Veridea Crossing Retail Village
Apex is about to get a $100 million retail village. And honestly, if you’ve followed Veridea for a while, this is the first big commercial phase under construction.
Veridea Crossing will be part of the $3 billion Veridea “mini city” and is expected to deliver in late 2027, with 220,000 square feet of retail and office space across 14–16 buildings.
That’s huge.
Let me break down what’s coming, because this project could reshape Apex for years to come.
▷ A long-awaited project is finally moving
The retail district sits on the eastern side of the 1,110-acre development, along N.C. 55. Site work has already begun, and RXR is fielding strong interest from grocers, eateries, fitness centers, and local shops.
This is the first major commercial corridor for Veridea, which has been in the works since 2009, stalled by legal roadblocks until RXR revived it in 2022.
▷ More than just retail
The full plan includes:
1,500 multifamily units and 1,100 single-family homes
Industrial, lab, and research buildings
A 34-acre Wake Tech campus
A 230-acre North Carolina Children’s Hospital creating 8,000 jobs
Trails, dog parks, bike paths, and a public elementary school
By 2035, the district could host up to 8,000 residential units, 3.5 million square feet of retail, hospitality, and civic space, and 12 million square feet of commercial space.
▷ Why this matters for Apex
Apex’s population is projected to top 100,000 by 2030, and the town has been craving more housing and commercial density. Mayor Jacques Gilbert calls Veridea Crossing “one of the best things to ever happen to Apex”, pointing to the impact on tax revenue, jobs, and amenities.
If everything comes together as planned, this project could transform Apex into a true mixed-use hub for decades.
